Summary: If life were a movie Jessica Jones would be the star of an After School Special, the prime example of what not to do with your life. But that's okay, because life isn't a movie and Jessica is just fine. Then she has to turn to SHIELD for a case and as she is sucked back into the life she has left behind and the past she doesn't want to remember things spiral out of her control.

In the movie of life you're always the main character, but this isn't the time for an After School Special. It's the time of superhero blockbusters, and Jessica's life is no exception.

Notes:

Let me start off by thanking all the amazing people that made this story possible; first and foremost, of course, my incredible betas. First there was [livejournal.com profile] somehowunbroken, who probably had it worst as she had to struggle through the very first draft, back when the SPaG mistakes had run wild and I had completely forgotten about Coulson. It's all thanks to her that Coulson lives, and she wins all the internets for coming up with a way of resolving the plot without ruining the ending. (This, kids, is why it's a bad idea to change two pivotal scenes when the fic is already nearly done. Aside from having to rewrite half the fic, realizing that you forgot to resolve the secondray plot after most of the rewriting and replotting is done sucks.)

Then there was [livejournal.com profile] schokoccino, whose only fault is that she's a great RL friend and couldn't say no when I bribed her with alcohol and youtube links. [livejournal.com profile] schokoccino was kind enough to discuss plot and coherency with me, even when we could have spent the time sleeping after getting up at ass o'clock in the morning. This is why I love you, bb! ♥

The magnificent [personal profile] oroburos69 saved my disorganized ass when she answered my cry for help like the knight in shining armor she is and corrected 33,000 words in only two(!) days - and not only did she do a marvelous beta job, but her comments made me see the fic again instead of just the mistakes. Without her I would have probably chickened out of posting at the last minute.

There are no words to properly convey how grateful I am to these wonderful people. If it hadn't been for them the fic would have been a jumbled and jerky mess full of of forgotten plot threads, littered with 'hard smile's and 'but's, and with enough internal inconsistency to make even Marvel and DC cry.

Also, a huge thank you to the mods of the Big Bang, [livejournal.com profile] somehowunbroken (yes, she's a mod as well. That's how awesome she is) and [livejournal.com profile] shinysylver! Thank you so much for organizing the BB and being all around amazing! ♥

[livejournal.com profile] popsiclehands did an amazing piece of art (which is here, in case anyone wants to go and flail at how great it is again. Just sayin'). It deserves all the love, so be sure to leave her a comment! ♥
