Sadly, I haven't come up with an explanation that satisfies me (the stuff I thought up had either to do with his zanpakutou or seemed too OOC). If I ever do come up with something that feels right I might just write a companion piece to 'Blood'.
Seriously, I like a lot of Bleach characters, but I love those two to a ridiculous degree. They became my favourite characters pretty much the moment they first appeared. <3
